The goal of Smack the Pixie! is to outwit 'The Pixie' and go away with a shed-load of
(pretend) money! We can`t be more specific than that! Well, actually, we can...
- There are 22 Boxes, each containing a different sum of money, and
the object of the game is to leave with as much money as possible. You will be
playing opposite The Banker, whose job is to ensure that you go away with as
little as possible. The 22 sums
of money are placed randomly into the boxes before the game begins, and neither
you nor The Banker know what the boxes contain...
- At the start of the game you will be asked to nominate a Box to be yours
- this is your Box and it will stay with you throughout the game.
Your box
will remain sealed so neither you nor the Banker knows how much it actually
contains... Should
you choose to play right through to the end, you will open your box and the
amount inside will be the amount you leave with...
- The game is broken down into 6 rounds - during each round you must
open 3 Boxes of your choosing (5 Boxes in Round 1),
revealing the sum of money inside. At the
end of each round The Banker will make you an offer for your Box, at which
point you must choose whether or not to take the offer, or
risk playing on for another round. The
idea is to reveal the lowest sums of money possible so as to make The
Banker believe that the odds are good on you having a large sum of money
in your box (regardless of whether or not you actually have), as
this will worry The Banker and result in much better offers!
- If you decide to play on until the end you will find yourself in
a position where only 1 Box remains in play. At this point you will be
made a Final Offer from The Banker - you can choose to either take the
offer or take a gamble and open your Box; the amount inside
is the amount you will now go away with!
- A note about The Bankers:
The Pixie`s take it in turn to act in the capacity of Banker.
Every night at midnight a new Pixie is chosen at random to be the Banker
for the day ahead. Just like you and I, each Pixie has his or her favourite
and least favourite days of the week; likewise they have their preferred time
of day. Therefore, both the day and the time of day are important factors in
influencing the Pixie`s mood at any given time. And in turn The Pixie`s mood
influences his or her generosity when making in-game offers...
